The Association „Centre of Excellence in Informatics and Information and Communication Technologies“ is open to cooperation with business: from small and medium enterprises to large industrial companies and startups. Through the combined efforts of its members, the Association has proven scientific expertise, modern computing infrastructure and experience in implementing applied projects in areas such as high-performance computing, big data analytics, artificial intelligence and related information and communication technologies.
Our goal is to connect scientific achievements with the real needs of industry: to accelerate innovation, reduce technological risk and support the faster deployment of new solutions in production, services and management. The Association serves as a bridge between the academic and research community on one side and business on the other, offering flexible partnership models tailored to the specific goals and resources of each organisation.
The Association has an established position in providing services to companies in mechanical engineering, medical device manufacturing, pharmaceutical companies, finance, transport and logistics, smart agriculture and other sectors. Our offer to business is based on unique expertise in high-performance computing, data analytics and artificial intelligence, as well as access to modern infrastructure and experience in executing applied scientific projects.
Research and Applied Focus Areas
The expertise of the Association's team and its members, related to participation in project BG16RFPR002-1.014-0018-C01 – Centre of Excellence, covers the following research and applied areas:
- development of stochastic methods and efficient algorithms for extremely parallel and high-performance computing systems;
- creation of scalable numerical methods for solving strongly coupled, multidimensional and nonlinear problems;
- development of multiscale and multiphysics models, algorithms and software solutions for building digital twins and processing large volumes of data;
- application of intelligent methods for modelling, optimisation, simulation and decision-making support;
- development of modern analytical, deterministic and stochastic methods for modelling in information sciences, data analytics and mathematical finance;
- development and high-performance application of combinatorial and algebraic structures, error-correcting codes and binary sequences, as well as planning of computing resources in distributed and heterogeneous systems;
- mathematical modelling and development of numerical methods for multiscale problems in fluid mechanics, solid mechanics and structures, including problems related to metamaterials, heterogeneous materials, microscale systems and biotransport;
- modelling the impact of climate change on the urban environment, agriculture and renewable energy production potential;
- development and application of in silico methods for drug design, molecular modelling, bioinformatics and biological data analysis;
- creation of integrated intelligent platforms based on artificial intelligence, distributed knowledge bases, sensor data and digital images;
- development of conceptual models, software platforms and spaces for sharing, integrating and managing urban and regional data.
Forms of Cooperation
Depending on the nature of your project and expected outcome, cooperation can take different forms: from a one-off expert consultation to long-term joint research and development. Below are the main areas in which business can work with the Association:
Technology Transfer
The Association has results from scientific research and development that can be adapted and deployed in an industrial environment. Technology transfer includes transferring know-how, methodologies, software solutions and proven approaches to business partners seeking to improve their products, processes or services. The service offers intellectual property generated in the various research areas conducted by the Association.
Patent and Intellectual Property Licensing
As a result of its research activities, the Association generates intellectual property: patents, know-how and technical solutions in the fields of information and communication technologies, high-performance computing, data analytics and artificial intelligence. Business organisations can access these results through licensing agreements, enabling them to use proven innovations without the need to build the corresponding research base independently.
Access to Unique Infrastructure for a Fee
The Association provides access to high-performance computing infrastructure and specialised resources for business needs: simulations, modelling, data analytics, model training and other computationally intensive tasks. The service is provided for a fee and can be either one-off or under a long-term contract, depending on the volume and nature of the project.
Pilot Projects and Prototype Development
For companies seeking to reduce risk before large-scale deployment, the Association offers pilot project and prototype development (Proof-of-Concept) in the fields of information technologies, high-performance computing and artificial intelligence. The Association has successful experience in developing and executing such projects, including in areas such as air pollution modelling.
Joint Research and Development
For companies with ambitious innovation goals, the Association offers partnership in joint research and development projects. Such cooperation can be funded from the company's own resources, from national and European programmes (National Science Fund, EU Framework Programmes, National Innovation Fund, etc.) or through a combination of sources.
Consulting and Expert Support
The Association's team can provide expert consultations on strategic matters: assessment of technological potential, selection of suitable solutions in high-performance computing and artificial intelligence, preparation of project proposals, etc. This is a suitable form for organisations that want to make informed decisions before investing in a larger project.
Training and Professional Development
Business can organise specialised training for its specialists in areas such as high-performance computing, big data analytics and artificial intelligence, with a practical focus tailored to the specific needs of the organisation. Training is delivered by experts with experience in both science and applied projects, based on the Association's accumulated expertise in these areas.
